I AM NOT NORMAL

We live in an age where man has developed a concept of the ideal life. You are expected to have “achieved” certain milestones at certain stages of your life, marked out by age ranges. Let me provide you with the time table.

Age 2: start nursery school;
Age 4: Begin primary education
Age 10–11: Get into secondary school
Age 15–17: Get admission into a good University
Age 19–23: Graduate with 2:1 or 1st Class
Age 23–30: Get married, get a masters degree, get a good job
Age 35–40: Get through with having kids, and be a manager at a good company
Age 60–65: Retire and take care of your grandchildren. Enjoy your retirement package
Age 70 and Above: This is extra time. Play golf, travel the world, volunteer and die when you are tired

If you dare dis-conform (does this word exist!?) or deviate from this time table, then you need special prayers. Your case is exceptional and you need to fast, pray and seek God for guidance on how to escape this pit of shame. You ought to start combing your ancestry for unidentified curses that are the probable and possible causes of your predicament.
The folly in this chronology is quite obvious, but it is still very surprising that many seemingly liberated souls in an age of exceeding revelation and insight are still subconsciously loyal to this dogmatic and religious time table.

Actually, the odds of leading a highly productive life are against you if your life follows this preset pattern!
Is it not noteworthy that no man has changed the world by doing any of the things listed in this timetable?

If this is what it means to lead a normal life, then my life is not normal!

My advise to you: The next time someone expresses worry and concern about something in your life which you know is part of the master plan, gently but FIRMLY advice them to go worry about their own troubles.

Thank you very much for this article and I hope some of your readers won't take it to as an excuse to being laid back. Why I don't succumb to this stereotype (and I must confess your article buttressed my stance), the fact remains that most of the points you mentioned are things we secretly pray to achieve on time. e.g. education, marriage (or who want to be taking care of children school fees while the energy is fast waning?)and being out of paid employment to being master of ours. There is a set time for every thing (Eccl 3: 1). It is my prayer that our time and season don't pass by unnoticed and untapped. Gracias! Joseph Tunji

Good One Tayo. Let's have more of such thought-provoking pieces.

Thanks.

More Grace Tayo, But you need to do part B of this piece to really hit the nail on the head concerning how 'the elect' should learn how to be more productive and profitable in life; by completely submitting to the Master. There is better lifestyle where we don't have to depend on our own efforts to get things accomplished; and the elect of the 21st century are yet to know about this lifestyle.Jesus never pursued any project that heaven did not ask him to pursue and had no ambition of his own. He only committed himself to the projects assigned him by the father. How many saints are doing that today? Even on the issue of serving the King, folks only go about doing things the King did not ask them to do; forgetting that its more productive and profitable to obtain instructions from his mouth for every action we take here on earth! That's why comformity is the in-thing. Prince Hezik
